I turned this

into this

The more interesting rocks were collected on backpacking trips mostly into Alpine areas. Different Friends gave me the flowers and the three types of thyme. Some of them are the great grand daughters of ones I had when I lived in the Peace.
I love the fact I get to landscape this place from scratch. There is no acres of lawn to dig up and no grass to spread its way into my gardens. No other peoples skinny little pain in the ass garden beds beneath the eaves up against the house. Stupid beds have to be watered daily and you have to be careful not to wet the concrete in case it leaks into the basement.
Everyone keeps asking me when I going to buy sod. There is a sod farm conveniently down the road. For years I've been mowing grass and reluctantly watering it, only because I briefly lived in the city and was worried what the neigbours would think, silly me. I want something you don't have to mow and you don't have to water yet stays green, something like clover.
