I originally wrote this On Friday afternoon. When I went to post it the internet was down, something to do with the fact their equipment got fried in the massive lightening storm which had just gone through a moment ago. I guess they have fixed everything now
I'm making a roasted vegetable salad for the traditional July first weekend party with some of my oldest friends. This party has been going on longer than I've known them, twenty four years. It's also been held in several different places. One year we held it at our farm on Krantz road. Our friends slept in trailers, tents and the floor of the living room. This year The Party is at The Lake, at a friends family cabin.
The photo above is the view from my living room.
Throughout the years as relationships change so have the faces, other friends come and go but the core people remain the same. As we've said before getting together reminds us of the movie The Big Chill.
To hear a really cool poem, in celebration of Canada Day, you need to download the seventh episode of the Christa Knits Podcast. The poem is written and performed by Shane Koyczan. Christa's podcast is about knitting, if you are not into knitting you can just fast forward to the poem although, you should be into knitting, it's a very soothing activity. I knitted the bags in the photo then dyed them pink and hung them up to dry. The small one is for Carly, she's three. The reason they are pink is because that is her favourite colour.
Oh and thanks Christa for reading out my answer to the ultimate question and for mentioning my blog especially the post about the humming bird feeder. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it.
